Dr Ashley Lyons

Ash is a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow and senior lecturer in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Glasgow, where he jointly leads the Extreme Light research group together with Prof Daniele Faccio and Dr Maria Chiara Braidotti.

Ash’s research lies at the boundary of quantum imaging/sensing and computational imaging where he has a specific interest in developing techniques that use entanglement and quantum interferometry to build new forms of microscopy. Ash received his PhD in 2017 from Heriot-Watt University where he subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher before moving to Glasgow in 2018. He has been a lecturer at the university since 2020 and was awarded both a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship and his current RAeng fellowship in 2021.
