ABOUT
By bringing together a broad range of stakeholders from academia and industry, to end-users and next-generation quantum workers, the Alliance for Research Challenges in Quantum Technologies seeks to connect societal challenges to quantum-enabled solutions, build the skill base needed to realise the benefits of quantum technologies, and ensure the responsible development of quantum technologies for society.
OUR AIMS

Generate and strengthen research connections and industrial partnerships across the quantum sector to catalyse the development of quantum technologies and leverage additional funding opportunities.

Deliver interdisciplinary workshops and seminars to promote interactions between a broad range of stakeholders—including social scientists, artists, and quantum innovators—to maximise the benefit of quantum technologies for society.

Train and develop the next generation of quantum workers and raise awareness of the quantum technologies sector in Scotland and beyond through summer schools, talks, and outreach activities with the wider public.

ALLIANCE LAUNCH
The Quantum ARC is part of the Scottish Funding Council’s Alliances for Research Challenges. The ARCs fulfil the recommendation within SFC’s Review of Tertiary Education and Research to create next-generation networks that build on our sustained investment in the Research Pooling Initiative with a focus on interdisciplinary challenge-oriented research collaboration, leveraging additional funding and fostering early career researcher communities and training. They were launched in October 2023.
NET ZERO
Following its declaration of a climate emergency in 2019, the Scottish Government has set an ambitious target to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2045. We are committed to supporting these aims, as outlined by the Scottish Funding Council here.
